Man dies in New Jersey car crash, 5 others injured

On Dec. 22 a 54-year-old man died when his car struck a tree on Interstate 78 in New Jersey. The man was driving a 2007 Honda Odyssey near mile marker 37.9 when the wreck occurred. His three children, who are all minors, were in the car with him.

Prior to crashing into the tree, the man rear-ended a 2013 Audi driven by a 36-year-old man. The Audi ran off the right side of the road and then hit a tree. The Honda then struck another vehicle, a 2010 Nissan being driven by a 61-year-old man. The Nissan also veered off the road, struck a guardrail and then drifted back into the median. The Honda then left the road and struck a tree.

The Honda driver died at the scene, and his three children were transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset with minor injuries. The drivers of the two other cars were also transported to nearby medical facilities, but neither was thought to have life-threatening injuries. The accident is still under investigation.

Accidents are an unfortunate occurrence at any time, but if they are caused by someone else's negligence, then they can be particularly traumatic. An injured person may choose to file a civil claim in order to assist them with the expenses that are incurred because of the wreck. A judge may make a decision based on various factors like the victim's long-term medical prognosis, their disability status and the number of people who rely on them for financial support for instance. Hiring an attorney who could help a victim navigate through the complex legal system may prove to be beneficial.
