Two injured in New Jersey rollover accident

Two New Jersey residents were injured in a rollover accident in Morristown on Feb. 19. The accident occurred around 11:50 a.m. at the intersection of Madison Avenue and Franklin Street. Police dispatched to the area found a two-car accident involving a Chevrolet Envoy SUV and a Subaru Legacy sedan. The force of the crash caused the SUV to overturn and land on its roof. Emergency workers were forced to cut the driver, a 21-year-old Morristown woman, from the vehicle. She was taken to Morristown Medical Center with a minor arm injury.

The Subaru driver, a 54-year-old North Arlington woman, was not injured in the crash. Her 82-year-old passenger, a Rockaway woman, was transported to Morristown Medical Center after complaining of chest pain. Authorities said she may have been injured by the airbag when it deployed.

Police issued a careless driving summons against the Chevrolet driver. Authorities allege that the crash happened when she turned left from westbound Madison Avenue onto Turtle Road and cut off the Subaru, which was headed east on Madison Avenue.

Anyone who suffers personal injuries as the result of a car accident may wish to consult with an attorney. If authorities determine that the crash was caused by the negligence of another driver, such as one who was distracted or impaired, a personal injury lawsuit could be filed against the driver seeking approperiate compensation. By using police reports and accident investigation results, a lawyer could prove a driver is legally liable for a victim's injuries. A successful lawsuit could bring a recovery that covers the costs of medical treatment, pain and suffering, lost wages and other expenses.
