Many New Jersey custodial parents are owed back child support. This situation may be exacerbated if the parent who is delinquent indicates an inability to make payments because their income consists of Social Security benefits. In reality, some Social Security benefits can be garnished to cover a child support obligation. However, the type of benefit determines whether this is possible.

Improving pedestrian safety in New Jersey

The rate of pedestrian accidents and injuries in New Jersey is higher per capita than the nation as a whole. To combat this problem, the Division of Highway Traffic Safety works with local agencies to educate drivers and pedestrians about their rights and responsibilities. While it may be impossible to eliminate pedestrian injuries completely, they could be reduced if drivers remain vigilant and obey traffic laws.

Vehicle drives into New Jersey eatery

A vehicle driven by a 71-year-old woman crashed through the storefront of the Cluck-U-Chicken eatery in Red Bank just before noon on March 3. The vehicle struck and injured a patron standing inside the restaurant as well as an employee. The car accident also caused major physical damage to the business, destroying computer equipment and refrigerators, forcing store to close.

Workers injured in New Jersey blast

Three New Jersey workers suffered injuries after an explosion occurred at a Bergen County animal hospital on March 6. The incident happened around noon at the Oradell Animal Hospital located on Winters Avenue. Investigators say that the explosion was in the east side of the building, while most the animals and hospital personnel were located on the west side. One worker was critically injured, and two others suffered injuries that were described as minor. After the explosion occurred, only some of the 60 animals at the hospital exhibited any injuries, but those were reportedly associated with prior conditions.

Impaired driving injuries and fatalities

While many New Jersey drivers know that impaired driving is a big problem, they may not understand just how many people impaired driving kills or injures every day. Across the nation, almost 30 people die every day in crashes involving an impaired driver. That amounts to approximately one person every 51 minutes.

Another crash occurs at New Jersey intersection

A young man is dead following a crash on Feb. 26 in New Jersey on Route 46 where it intersects Old Wolfe Road. As of the time of this reporting, charges have not been filed in the accident. According to a police representative, there is no indication that alcohol or drugs were involved in the crash.
