When are experts needed in a divorce?

New Jersey residents dealing with family law issues know that there are many complicated facets of the proceedings. Child support, property division and alimony can be difficult to figure out for many couples. Experts can be helpful in many family law disputes, whether the issue is legal, financial or emotional.

Since divorce is laden with emotions, psychological experts can prove valuable to many parties to a divorce. These experts can evaluate child custody arrangements and provide their expert opinion on what is best for the children. Another helpful type of expert is a vocational expert. This expert can be called in to evaluate the earning capacity of a spouse who hasn't worked in a long period of time. They can determine the spouse's job prospects, which can help determine child and spousal support. Along the same lines, an income expert can determine the income of spouses; this factor can also be used in child and spousal support calculations.

Real estate experts can do appraisals of property and provide a detailed report of the property and any nearby comparable property. This would help with valuation of the current family home and property division issues. Finally, a business valuation expert can evaluate a business and determine what portion is community property and what portion is separate property. This distinction is essential when dividing assets and debts.

Experts can be extremely beneficial for people who are going through any type of divorce. Due to the many complicated issues that can arise during proceedings, having professionals analyze the issues can help make sure everything is fair for both parties. A legal professional skilled in family law can help people with their divorce legal issues. A family law attorney can also help parties determine which other types of experts might be most useful in their particular situation
