10 bus passengers injured in crash

On Dec. 17, ten bus passengers were injured in a four-vehicle accident on the northbound New Jersey Turnpike near exit 13. The accident involved a NJ Transit commuter bus and three tractor-trailers. According to initial reports, no criminal charges were immediately filed as a result of the accident. However, a truck driver who was involved is believed to be the person responsible for the chain-reaction crash.

A police spokesman confirmed that the truck accident took place at 7:49 a.m., and the wreckage was cleared by 12:50 p.m. When a tractor-trailer driver attempted to move from the right center lane to the left center lane of the highway, the truck hit a 63 line bus from behind. One bus passenger recalled putting his head down as soon as he heard the impact. The man said he then felt glass flying over his head.

Among the ten bus passengers who were injured, there were two people who sustained serious injuries. One of the seriously injured passengers had to be extricated from the bus, and all of the injured victims were transported to University Hospital in Newark for treatment. During the crash, 61 passengers were on board the bus that was traveling from Lakewood to Lincoln Harbor.

A person who has been injured as a result of a similar accident might have a case for filing a personal injury claim. An attorney may be able to help someone in this situation to gather all of the appropriate evidence to prove liability and establish the severity of their injuries. Injured victims of a bus accident may begin building a civil claim even if criminal charges have not yet been filed against a driver.
