Motorists in New Jersey might benefit from understanding which days of the year are the most dangerous be on the road. Statistics and data make it evident that several holidays and a number of unique days present higher risks for anyone on the roadways. Memorial Day weekend is considered to be the riskiest time of the year to be in a car. The rate of traffic deaths during this weekend is more than 13 percent higher than the average weekend.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration claims that approximately 400 people die during Memorial Day weekend every year around the country. Almost half of these deaths are attributable to alcohol-related accidents. According to AAA estimates, over 36 million motorists traveled more than 50 miles away from home over the 2014 Memorial Day holiday.

Researchers in Colorado found that over 300 deaths occurred within the first six days of daylight saving time during the 10-year period that was studied. The NHTSA reported that the rate of traffic accidents increases by approximately 17 percent on the following Monday. Black Friday is also a dangerous time of the year. The number of insurance claims may be twice as high as any other day. NFL game days are also some of the most dangerous times to be traveling on the road. The other days considered to the most dangerous for drivers include Friday the 13th, New Year's Day, Independence Day and Thanksgiving.

People suffering injuries in an accident that was caused by another driver typically benefit from obtaining legal representation. An attorney can use the results of an accident investigation report as evidence of negligence to support a personal injury lawsuit against the responsible driver.
