On April 26 around 8:30 a.m., a collision occurred in East Greenwich in which two 22-year-old women were killed. The driver of one vehicle is one of the deceased; she was a resident of Pennsauken. Her front seat passenger, who was from Berlin, also died. Both women were thrown from the car, and police reported that they died at the scene.
On March 27, a 22-year-old New York man pleaded guilty in connection to a fatal crash in Jersey City in May 2013. He faces up to 21 years in prison.
A vehicle driven by a 71-year-old woman crashed through the storefront of the Cluck-U-Chicken eatery in Red Bank just before noon on March 3. The vehicle struck and injured a patron standing inside the restaurant as well as an employee. The car accident also caused major physical damage to the business, destroying computer equipment and refrigerators, forcing store to close.
A New Jersey woman who rejected a $50,000 insurance settlement from State Farm after she suffered permanent neck and spine injuries following an automobile accident was awarded $2.75 million on Feb. 3. Her husband's loss was recognized as well with an award of $750,000.
Most people are familiar with whiplash as a common type of car accident injury, but many do not have a good understanding of what it can involve. Whiplash can often result in much more than a simple sore neck. The injury, although not externally visible, can cause damage to muscles, surrounding tissues and even vertebrae in the injured location.
On Dec. 22 a 54-year-old man died when his car struck a tree on Interstate 78 in New Jersey. The man was driving a 2007 Honda Odyssey near mile marker 37.9 when the wreck occurred. His three children, who are all minors, were in the car with him.
A two-car crash on Route 66 in New Jersey resulted in the death of an 80-year-old woman on Dec. 14. The accident occurred in front of a Home Depot store in Neptune at about 8:25 a.m. The drivers were the only people involved in the accident.
